SATURDAY SCHOOL
Saturday School serves more than one purpose. It serves as a penalty for tardies and other behaviors. It also serves as a way for students to make up absences and clear NCs. An NC is a course that a student is not receiving credit in due to absences. Generally this means that the student has more than four absences in the class. Saturday begins at 8:00 am and ends at noon. If you are assigned or need to attend, please do not be late. You will not be admitted.
TARDIES
When a student is tardy three times during a grading period in any class, he or she is to be assigned to Saturday School For each tardy above 3 in the grading period, the student may be assigned an additional Saturday School. If the student fails to attend, a discipline referal is generated, and the student will be assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS).
MAKE UP HOURS/NCS
Community Service is no longer acceped for making up absences. Absences must be made up at school. The primary way of doing this is through Saturday School. If a student wants to make up the time through tutoring, etc., he or she should see the appropriate assistant principal to make arrangements. There is a limit of 5 Saturday Schools that may be attended during a semester to make up absences. If you are attending for this reason, be sure to sign in on the correct form and check the "NC Clearance" block on the sign-in sheet. Students that are part of the Delta program may serve their time in the Delta Lab.
OTHER DISCIPLINE
Students may be assigned to Saturday School as a discipline consequence for a varity of offenses. Once assigned by the student's assistant principal, the student must attend or risk additional consequences such as In-Schoool Suspension (ISS).
